Unique post earrings featuring natural, genuine Tahitian Keshi Pearls from French Polynesia.
Tahitian Keshi Pearls are a rare and beautiful find. Tahitian Pearls are cultivated in the black-lipped oyster (Pinctada margaritifera), primarily in French Polynesia. These oysters require suitable marine conditions and careful farming, and the Pearls generally take 18–24 months to develop.
Keshi Pearls are a natural by-product of this cultivation process. Occasionally, the oyster produces additional layers of lustrous nacre, which builds up to form a Keshi Pearl. Keshis do not form around a nucleus (grain of sand, etc.), but consist entirely of precious nacre and are often sold by weight, much like gemstones. There is nothing inside them to block the light, giving Keshi Pearls an almost breathtaking luster. Each pearl is unique in shape and size, and the color is entirely natural.
These shimmering Tahitian Keshi Pearls measure approximately 8-9 x 5 mm and are set on 14k gold filled ear posts, finished with decorative, hypoallergenic 14k gold filled ear backings.
Pearl is the birthstone for June, making these earrings a particularly lovely gift for those born in this month.
